Rabbi Eisman's Tefillah Reminder Program


One of my heroes in life is a young woman who grew up in a completely secular home with a non –Jewish father, and upon graduating from university discovered the truth of her heritage. After studying in Israel for five years, getting married, and bringing a beautiful son into the world, she was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer. I truly believe that Hashem chose her to deliver the message to us that we need to strengthen and increase our dedication to Him.
In trying to come up with ways that I can improve, I discovered that as an observant Jew there are a number of times a year when we need to make an addition or change a verse in Shemoneh Esrai and if we forget to do so we are required to repeat the entire Shemoneh Esrai. Oftentimes the gabbai in the shul will make an announcement to remind everybody, however, by the time Shemoneh Esrai rolls around we occasionally forget and are forced to repeat Shemoneh Esrai. One day I realized that if I put a piece of paper on the page in my Siddur where the addition is, I had a much easier time remembering, and thus would avoid having to repeat Shemoneh Esrai. We printed up official bookmarks as an official reminder to be used by our whole shul. We hired a 13 year old boy to put the bookmarks in the siddurim on Yaale Veyavo before Rosh Chodesh. (He removed them after Rosh Chodesh). Also during the Aseres Yimay Teshuva, Mashiv Haruah, and V’Sein Bracha. They are put in the siddurim to help be Mezakeh the Rabbim not to have to repeat Shemoneh Esrai as a zchus for a refuah sheleima for my hero.
If you would like to print up bookmarks for the zchus of a Choleh, feel free to contact us. The cost is $30 for 100 bookmarks. You would also have to hire a Bachur to make sure they go in and out of the siddurim before and after the addition is necessary.
